In plain words: what we send you, how often, and how to make it stop.

What this is

Groves Edge is a private group for the households on North Groves Edge Drive in Hideout, Utah. It exists so neighbors can arrange gatherings and tell each other things worth knowing. It is not a business. Nothing is sold, nothing is advertised, and your details are not worth anything to anyone because they are never going anywhere.

What we send

Socials and events — invitations, and a reminder if you have not answered
Activities — book club, mahjong, whatever neighbors start
Postings — notices, things offered, things needed, a neighbor who could use help
Heads Up — when a neighbor notices something at your place that needs attention
Sign-in links — when you open a page that needs to know it is you

Message frequency varies, and is usually around 4 to 8 messages a month. Message and data rates may apply — that is between you and your phone company, as with any text.

Choosing what reaches you

Every kind of message above can be turned down or off, and you can pick whether it comes as a text, as an email, or as a weekly summary. Everything starts on a sensible setting, so you do not have to do anything unless you want to.

One exception: Heads Up. If a neighbor tells us something at your house needs attention — a garage door open at midnight, water where it should not be — that reaches you whatever else you have turned off. That is the whole reason it exists, and joining means agreeing to it.

Stopping

Reply STOP to any message and everything stops. You do not have to explain, and you do not have to tell anyone. Reply HELP and you will get a message telling you who we are and how to reach a person.

You can also just email admin@grovesedgeut.com and ask to be taken off. You do not need a reason.

This is not an emergency service

If someone is hurt, or you think a crime is happening, call 911. Groves Edge is neighbors helping neighbors. It is not monitored, nobody is on duty, and a text can fail to arrive for all sorts of ordinary reasons — a phone switched off, no signal, a carrier delay. Never rely on it when it matters.

Nobody is responsible if it goes wrong

This is run by a neighbor, for neighbors, in his own time. By joining, you accept that using it is your own choice and your own risk, and that nobody — including the neighbor who set it up and runs it — is responsible if a message does not arrive, arrives late, or is wrong, or if anything follows from that.

We will make reasonable efforts to keep it working and to keep your details safe. Reasonable efforts, not guarantees.

If it stops

If this turns out not to be useful, or a cost turns up that we did not expect, we will switch it off and go back to plain texting. Nothing is signed and nothing is locked in. See the Privacy Policy for what happens to your details if that day comes.
